Teachable isn’t sponsored by government or big business. We are a social enterprise, backed by contributing teachers and educators, and we rely on other teachers and schools to support us financially.
Teachable.net was started in September 2007 as a way to encourage sharing of high-quality learning resources by rewarding those teachers that produce the best and most popular files. We charge for files so that we can ensure quality for our members, along with paying for a reliable website.
Our big vision is that within a few years we can put together the largest and most useful collection of English-language teaching materials on the web, and make them available at low-cost to teachers all over the world. We believe that through the efforts of thousands of individual teachers, we can create a facility which is easier-to-use and broader than any single school or district site.
At the moment, we are a small and dedicated team. The best way to get more involved is to contribute files, but please see our current job vacancies as well.
To keep the costs as low as possible for teachers we are a virtual organisation, with contributors and editors based in schools and universities all over the UK.
