Teachable.net allows contributors to be paid per copy of the resource downloaded.  We believe this encourages the most talented teachers to upload their best material.

  • To download a simple file typically costs the user between 80p and £3, and we share this 50:50 with our contributors (our Contributor Reward scheme).
  • Teachable.net uses the remainder to market the site, develop the Teachable.net technology and pay our group of editors and moderators who maintain the standards on the site.

For more complex files we have a standard scale of charges

  • Word and PDF:  > 10 pages = 2x
  • Powerpoint > 10 pages = 2x,  > 20 pages = 3x
  • Excel: > 1Mb = 2x
  • Flash = 2x,  >2mb = 3x,  >4mb = 4x
  • Smart Notebook and ActivStudio: >2Mb=2x,  >4mb=4x

Pricing is set automatically, but can be over-ridden by experienced contributors where they feel the file should cost more.

When a file should be free

If you feel your files should be non-chargeable, maybe because  the resource is in the public domain already, or you are not the copyright holder then you need to email us about it. However, you still cannot publish something without permission, even if you make it freely available.
