Salary: £24,000 p.a.

Application deadline: 30th April 2012

Teachable.net is a fast-growing education web service, with over 50,000 teachers using our website to source curriculum materials from other teachers.  We have a vision to improve access to top quality teaching, and right now we have a proven income stream and funding from a group of angel investors.

The CEO, Edward Upton, wants to train and develop an Operations Manager to co-ordinate all aspects of marketing, customer support and product development.  This is an ideal opportunity for someone interested in learning how to grow a web business, or wanting general management experience in a fast-growing sector.

The successful applicant will need to:

  • Be self-sufficient and able to work alone, but co-ordinating with a dozen contractors and other supporters by Skype and email
  • Demonstrate great time-management skills and be able to prioritise a huge range of tasks
  • Work well in a team, with strong communication skills and fluent written English
  • Have a keen eye for detail in design and copywriting
  • Have excellent office IT skills: able to use Word, Powerpoint, Excel and email proficiently, and quick to learn other management software (e.g. Highrise, PivotalTracker, Campaign Monitor, Google Analytics)
  • Ideally, have a thorough understanding of the UK schools system, and where Academies, Free Schools, Independent Schools and Further Education Colleges fit in

Responsibilities:

  • Researching and preparing for pitch meetings with the CEO
  • Analysing website usage and feedback from our teacher community, and communicate this to the technical team (a basic understanding of HTML and website architecture would be useful)
  • Liaising with external partners, arranging meetings and ensuring deadlines are met
  • Co-ordinating the teacher editors and ensuring quality standards in our moderation process
  • Organising teacher events for marketing and feedback on new product development
  • Answering calls and emails for customer support and giving basic technical advice
  • Regularly updating our Teachable Twitter and Facebook channels

The role is full-time (40 hours a week) but flexible hours, since most of the work is online and by email.  You would be required to work out of an office in Victoria, London SW1 for 2 days a week and work from home (or a co-working space) for the other 3 days.

We will accept applications from recent graduates, and would also value someone with commercial experience in a tech / web company.

To apply, please email a CV to Edward Upton at jobs@teachable.net.  In the email, please explain how you meet the criteria and what aspect most interests you about the role.
