Social Media Internship

Closing date: 30th November 2011

15 hours a week, unpaid, for 8 weeks
Bonus: we will buy you a Macbook Air laptop, and on completion of the 8 week internship it is yours to keep

We need to build on our community of users, to keep them aware of Teachable’s rapid development and encourage more visitors to the website. As one of the core team of 4 people you can help by creating written and video content about our resources.

This internship is a chance to build your marketing skills in an exciting Web 2.0 company, as well as a strong reference for future work. There will be formal mentoring and training of 2 hours a week, along with help from other team members when you need.

Example responsibilities:
• Creating YouTube videos of our best curriculum resources, using simple editing software such as iMovie
• Writing regular, simple blog posts about new contributions to Teachable
• Generating buzz by commenting about these resources on Facebook, other blogs etc
• Organising teacher events for marketing and feedback on new product development
• Mucking in with other Teachable projects – it’s all hands to the pump sometimes!

The successful applicant will:
• Have an interest in education and educational aids
• Work well in a team, with strong communication skills
• Fluent written English with some experience of writing for an audience
• Have excellent office IT skills: able to use Word, Powerpoint, Excel and email quickly and without support
• Be a regular user of social networking / online collaboration websites and be familiar with online communication etiquette (Facebook, Twitter etc)
• Work out of an office in Basingstoke (although flexible working / working from home is possible)

The role is part-time initially, with you working 2 days a week, but could evolve into a more full-time position as we grow. It might ideally suit someone doing a part-time business, marketing or media course.

To apply, please email a CV – highlighting how you meet the above criteria – to Edward Upton at jobs@teachable.net
